The Department of Biotechnology in BCET started functioning from the year 2001. The Biotechnology Department has extremely well equipped laboratories and highly qualified faculty members from institutes of National and International repute.
"' Biotechnology is a multi-disciplinary streams which include the application of Biological Sciences & Technologies in a variety of fields such as Plant and Agriculture, Food Processing,
Pharmaceutical, Clinical Research, Veterinary Industries, Life Sciences to name a few.
"' Development of better variety of plant crops, unique vaccines for providing resistance to diseases, stem cell research, etc are all examples of Biotechnology.
There are 10 state of the art modern laboratories:
• Microbiology Lab
• r-DNA Technology Lab
• Plant Tissue Culture Lab
• Instrument Room
• Bioinformatics Lab
• Biochemistry Lab
• Immunology Lab
• Project/Research Lab
• Process Control Lab
• Unit Operation Lab
Intake:
B. TECH: (60 Seats)
At lease 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and
Mathematics taken together and pass in english
through the joint entrance examination
(WBJEE) and JEE (Main.)
Admission through Lateral entry for diploma Holders I B.Sc. uin
the 2nd year (Third Semister) of the B. Tech programme. Such
seats are to be filled us as per state Govt. rules.
M. TECH: (18seats)
1st Class in B.E. I B. Tech in Biotechnology,
Chemical Engineering or 1st Class M.Sc. in Life
Sciences or equivalent through PGET
